SEARCH COMMITTEE UPDATE

What a joy to continue serving you in this capacity!  The search committee keeps bearing the fruits of your prayers and we are excited about the progress so far.  Posting our open Senior Pastor position with the Willow Creek Association had the intended effect of wider advertising.  Along with our posting at the Church of God website and through the pastor grapevine, we have had 47 requests for an application packet.  Praise God for the diversity of experience and the high quality of the candidates who have expressed interest.  Our posting with the Church of God website has ended and the Willow Creek Association posting ends at the end of April.  We have received 8 completed packets and expect many more by the end of May.  It is our goal to have all of the candidates’ applications reviewed by the end of June.  In that regard, we are right on target where we hoped to be when we first planned our activities.

One particularly exciting aspect of our current efforts is the building of a closer collaboration with our Board of Directors and others in the search process.  Since much of our work thus far focused on how we would recruit and evaluate candidates, we are now starting to focus on ensuring that we select the pastor with the right attributes that will lead our congregation forward in accomplishing our church’s mission in a manner that reflects the unique character of our congregation.  The experience of the Board members, Pastor Helga and the staff, and our Church of God area administrator along with suggestions and ideas from the congregation will be invaluable for the search committee.  Please feel free to give ideas personally to the committee, board, or staff or send an email to the search committee at ccc_srpastor@charter.net.  Since we completed the first survey, everyone has had the opportunity to think more about what we need in our Senior Pastor.  Here is your opportunity to “pipe up” again!
